This flag depicts an Asafo captain holding tethers leading to a clock bird and cock, both of which announce the dawn. The Asafo company is boasting that “We control the cock and the clock bird, we control when the day begins” or “We control time.” Some versions of this motif actually incorporate an image of a clock into the composition.
