Mural painting, Bafuka's village, Democratic Republic of Congo, 1913. Photo by Herbert Lang.
Mural painting on the outside of houses generally consisted on non-representational geometric patterns. In the early part of this century artists began to depict changes taking place with the coming of Europeans. This mural emphasizes the importation of guns, a man saluting to an authority figure, and possibly the taking of captives.
