The chief stops several times along his pilgrimage route to dance for his entourage and onlookers.  He always appears composed, despite the intense heat and the fact he has been on his feet for the better part of five hours.  Here an admirer "sprays" him with Nigerian currency, a common gesture of appreciation.  The money is collected by a family member, since his dignity and concentration allow no direct acknowledgement of the gift.
